Apr 05, 2012

For more than 50 years, Barbie® has empowered girls to dream big and explore a world without limits.  With more than 130 careers underher pink belt, Barbie® introduces girls to careers that are aspirational and often underrepresented by women. This year, Barbie® is throwing her pink hat into the presidential campaign ring with the Barbie® I Can Be…™ President doll!

Just like any world leader or U.S. President, Barbie® I Can Be…™ President doll stands on her own two feet—literally!  In addition to complementing her suit, Barbie® doll’s pink wedges actually stabilize and allow her to balance on her own without the help of a doll stand.

The ultimate in political chic, the I Can Be… President Barbie look is truly a special moment in Barbie’s history.”

About Chris Benz
The CHRIS BENZ collection is a reflection of a colorful, eccentric American style. Often referred to as The Prince of Color, Chris’ collection reflects the ease and carefree attitude one can expect from a true American Sportswear collection. In February 2007, Chris presented his first ready-to-wear collection to high acclaim from fashion press and retailers during New York Fashion Week.

Chris grew up in the Pacific Northwest, before arriving in Manhattan to study at Parsons School of Design, at the age of seventeen. He graduated in 2004, after winning the prestigious CFDA Emerging Designer Award. While at Parsons, Chris interned with Marc Jacobs where he reinforced his Parsons curriculum with the fundamentals and development of a collection. After graduation, Chris joined the dynamic J. Crew team as a women’s wear designer for dresses and special occasion pieces.

Chris is fascinated by innovation, proportions, refined tailoring and finishing detail. Obsession with print, texture, and silhouette form the bulwark of Chris’ signature infusion of color. Classic pieces incorporate specialty details, fabrication, and elements of surprise.

With an emphasis on layers, sheerness and casual luxury, the result is a beautifully crafted collection with a modern spirit. Chris’ vision is one of meticulous but effortless design: vintage and surplus elements, retooled in classic luxury fabrics that set the temperature of new American sportswear.
